I am a life member of the ARRL.

My first contact was WD6CEM, a neighbor not far away on fifteen meters CW, 21150.Since then we have met many fellow hams and traveled with several of them.

One of the most important parts of Amateur Radio is emergency communications. We have helped several times with floods and fires. The Amateur community has radio equipment all over the world and many communication repeaters for local use.In times of emergency this equipment and the operators become very important to the community. The normal communications sometimes are destroyed by the disaster or overloaded.
